I have a small, dark corner by my kitchen that I wanted to reinvent as if it were straight out of an English-style pub (though a tad more comfortable).

The recipe I imagined called for a high bar table (40-42"), super comfortable bar chairs and low, focused-beam lighting, maybe with some tasteful pub decor on the walls. I wanted to create an intimate pub setting for two or at most three; the perfect setting for casual one-plate dinners, or endless conversation over equally endless bottles of wine.

Most tables I saw in showrooms and furniture stores in the city, however, did not fit the bill. They were either too bulky and busy, too cold and clinical, or too faux (wood) and flimsy. Most tables had one or more of these negative aspects, as well as a ridiculous price tag. Seriously, I'm essentially looking for a tall-but-small table.

Given my jaded attitude after searching for so long, I wasn't expecting much when I dropped a mere few bills on this. It looked good online, and at that point it was the cheapest option (aside from building one myself). I needed a table!

But wow...I was so happy when it arrived.

It took some elbow greese to put it together, but once that hurdle was jumped I stood there looking at a sturdy, functional bar table that had the elegance of an expensive piece of furniture, but the ruggedness of something you might find in a bar. Seriously, no joke.

I am extremely happy with this purchase and would recommend this table to anyone looking for something similar.

I would suggest, though, that you take the time to investigate (and ultimately invest in) comfortable, high-quality bar stools. You'll save a bit of money on the table, so why not pay a little extra for something nice to sit on? It will give your "bar" area that added class, and to be honest, you're going to want to sit at it for a long time...

...possibly over endless bottles of wine.

I bought this for my eat in kitchen and use it everday. I have had it for a little over a year now, showing little wear. As with most furniture, the surface will get hairline scratches if you are not careful, but these can easily be covered up with Old English scratch remover.

In all, a solid/sturdy table at a good price that's functional as well as good looking ,fitting well into any decor. Water marks can be an issue , so catch them early. , other wise the finish is fine.
